Chapter Thirty-Three
Lunch with My Sister
20 March 2013
MY WORLD WAS imploding. It had been just over two months since Dan had dropped me and only two days since he had sent me a birthday message. It hadnât been my birthday, but 18 March must have been the fake birthday that I chose for Dylan Johnston when I created him. Somehow, as technology does, it linked the information from my down-low yahoo email account and reminded Dan that it was my birthday. I didnât reply to his messageâbut the relief of hearing from him gave me hope.
Nuriel and I were in touch frequently, but I was getting despondent with the lack of progress. I was starting to think that he might be a fraud and that perhaps I had been a fool for believing his stories about energy and destiny.
âJust relax,â he would say. âWe need to keep things smooth and easyâ¦if you are anxious, you will destabilise the process.â There were many times I wanted to walk away from the esoteric journey I had embarked on, but it gave me hope where religion and psychology had let me down. The likes of Linda and her tarot cards, and Nuriel and his energy had kept me going through a dark and difficult time. The lack of progress with Dan was frustrating me, so I decided it was time to give Linda a visit again.
When I arrived at Lindaâs smoky house in the late afternoon, the crystal balls in the sockets on either side of her face were glowing with ESP.
âYour sister has been to see me a few times,â she commented in passing. I thought that was strange, because although I had given Holly Lindaâs details, she hadnât specifically told me that she had been to see herâlet alone âa few timesâ.
âSheâs seriously worried about you,â Linda cautioned, âshe thinks youâre on the verge of suicide.â I had been trying to hide my pain and fear from my family, but obviously not well enough. âLast time she came to see me,â Linda continued, âshe came specifically to ask about you and your well-being.â
âWhat did you tell her?â I asked, worried that my secret might have leaked.
âNothing,â Linda replied calmly. âI told her that you have work stress and that she shouldnât worry.â Linda smiled and handed me the deck of cards and asked me to shuffle them as before. While I was shuffling, she unexpectedly provided some psychic guidance.
âMy guides are telling me that you need to tell your sisterâ¦it will be a burden off both of your shoulders.â Her voice was calm and authoritative. I flinched. âJust relax,â she lilted, âyou are in controlâ¦you should do it when you have peace.â I completed the card shuffling, split the deck and restacked it, before sliding the cards back toward her.
The first card over was the Ace of Swords. The card showed a shrouded hand holding an upright sword that pierced a crown bearing dangling willow leaves. It looked full of promise.
âThis card signifies new beginnings and a breakthrough of sorts,â Linda explained.
